Quick Hauls: Masterpiece Josuke Higashikata and a semi-update for the blog.

Just here to do a quick review of my latest addition to my addiction, the MSP Banpresto Josuke Higashikata. MSP stands for Masters Star Piece, a line that primarily focuses on male shounen characters from anime such as One Piece, Dragonball Z, and of course, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

This guy is gorgeous from just about every angle, both in the figure sense and yes-homo sense. His colors are vibrant and exciting, almost like he shounen-jumped straight out of a copy of Shounen Jump! (kil me pls).

The face is also fittingly handsome in an almost effeminate way, as is with most protagonists in JoJo from part 4 onwards. The wrist bracers are also nicely painted, with the gold popping against the green. I also like that he still has emblems on his collar despite being mostly obscured by his hands.

I especially love the JoJo emblem on Josuke’s back, such a nice detail for a part of the figure we don’t even often look at.

Look at them designer shoes. Also, Josuke comes with a handy stand so he won’t fall over.

As is tradition

Citing Araki’s usual inspiration of Greek and Roman statues, the folds and gentle flow of Josuke’s uniform is splendidly done. The shading and color gradients of the purple on darker purple is also amazing shadework.

And lastly, we can’t forget where this figure’s pose was taken from.

Overall, an amazing figure, 10/10 in just about every department. Now for the more mundane aspect of this blogpost, I will be talking about my hopefully planned posts of this week. Without going into much detail, this week will be:

  • Saintly Sundays – Starting next week, I will be discussing the portrayal of Christianity and/or Christian imagery in anime every Sunday until Easter ends. Next week, we will be starting off with Samurai Champloo.

  • Since I am currently blitzing through my backlog, this week will also feature my review of Girls Last Tour, which I recently finished.

  • Monthly Haul, wherein I will recap the cool stuff I bought and weep for my wallet.
  • Another old analysis I posted on reddit, which I’ll keep a secret for now.
  • And like always, whatever I feel like doing.

Of course, this is subject to change, as I am currently very busy doing thesis work for my college, and this blog, while I love doing, is still just a secondary thing to maintaining my mental health, and not something I want to turn into a chore.

And that’s it for this week. Have a great Sunday!
